MR. CURTIN'S DEATH
■ ■ LABOUR PARTY'S REGRET : An expression of deep regret- at the death of the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. J. Curtin, was contained, in. a resolution passed at a meeting this week of the Auckland Central branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. The resolution was as follows:—
"That the Auckland Central branch of the New .Zealand Labour Party deeply deplores the death of John Curtin, Labour Prime Minister of the Australian Commonwealth Govern* ment, who, in:the danger of Japanese attack on Australia, New Zealand and • the Empire, rallied American arid; British help and Australian internal forces and saved Australia and New Zealand from Japanese merciless destruction. John Curtin was undoubtedly the inspired leader and statesman in a grave crisis." •
