BRITISH SUPPLIES
Must Be Delay In Reaching
Abundance
BIG INDUSTRIAL, PROBLEM
Rec. 1 p.m.
RUGBY, July 9.
Mr. Oliver Lyttelton, president of the Board of Trade, told the Metropolitan Mayors' Association in London to-day that Britain must be prepared to accept some delay in reaching abundance at home for some lines of exports. He said this did
not mean that we must delay in obtaining much more plentiful supplies than we now have. "That is certainly asking too much of the people of this country, of whom so much has been asked and by whom so much has been given, but abundance must be delayed," Mr. Lyttelton remarked. Britain had an immense and intricate problem in re-deploying, her industrial forces, Mr. Lyttelton added. There was bound to be some dislocation and some temporary ti'ansitional unemployment.
