INJURY TO OFFICER
MISHAP ON TRAFFIC DUTY
While making the annual check of drivers' licenses and warrants of fitness in Fanshawe Street yesterday, a City Council traffic officer, Mr. Albert John Clanfield, aged 57, married, of 41, Wairiki Street, Mount Eden, was struck by a motor vehicle: He was attempting to stop two vehicles for inspection when a third vehicle ran into him. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a serious condition, suffering from concussion and abrasions. His condition this morning was slightly improved.
