FINE WAR EFFORT
PRODUCTION IN CANADA
"Canada is one of the few coun-. tries which has a surplus of wheat." said the High Commissioner for Canada in New,; Zealand, Dr. W. A. Riddell, in a broadcast -..last evening on the occasion of his country's Dominion Day. Millions of bushels of wheat had been sent to Greece, Russia and other countries, and considerable quantities were being sent to New Zealand, he said. The difficulty in supplying wheat was not that they did not have the wheat or the shipping, but that they did not have the sacks to contain it. Although 500,000 men and women had left the farms for the armed forces and war plants; Canada had increased her tQtal food production by 40 per cent, and supplies to Britain by 215 per cent. Canada had also greatly increased her output 6f iron, steel, coal and aluminium.
