SHORTAGES
Your correspondent, "Bewildered," has. written of a very apparent apathy . that .seems- to be growing among the people of Auckland. J)o they realise that Auckland suffers shortages when other towns -haye full and plenty? Take Napier, for instance. Shops are stocked with breakfast foods, matches, dates arid potatoes. Fuel orders are promptly attended to and one can get half a ton of coal at the shortest notice. There are no queues' for sweets or cakes, and bacon is always available, and in any quantity. Can we-say the same'here? -Also there-are no restrictions of gas, nor is it'cut on at a moment's notice. In Wellington j also the shops are well stocked wp the things we are doing without. Why? It is because it is tlio seat of government? And yet people endure air this and make no protest. What are our members of Parliament doing? COLD.
