STOCK FOR SOLDIERS
POPULAR NORTHLAND SCHEME O.C. WHANGAREI, this day. Over 1000 head have been promised and 130 allotted in the scheme instituted by the Whangarei Returned Services Association for the provision of dairy stock to returned soldiers going on the land. Since the first distribution of four heifers each to soldiers taking up farming in the Whangarei County began two years ago, the scheme has grown in popularity. It was reported at a meeting of the special committee which handles the scheme that 14 pedigree Jersey bulls also have been made available.
