FRENCH DISASTER
Amazing Sequel To Attempted Rescue Of Child TRAIN CAREERS DOWN HILL Rec. 2.30 p.m. PARIS, June 29. | Between 50 and 100 people were killed in French Morocco when the Meknes-Fez express was derailed last Sunday near Meknes. The victims included several French soldiers going on leave. The accident is reported to have occurred when the driver halted the train to try to rescue a child who had been electrocuted while playing near a high tension wire. The driver failed to brake the train when he left the cab and it rolled back down a hill, attaining over 100 miles an hour before going off the rails, it plunged to the bottom of a deep ravine, and the whole train was soon blazing. The driver and the guard are reported to be under arrest. An investigation is proceeding.
