TEST BORES ADVISED
THE KAWAKAWA COAL FIELD O.C. WHANGAREI, this day. By invitation from the Bay of Islands Labour Representation Committee three mining experts this week visited Kawakawa to ascertain the possibility of reopening the once extensive seams of coal in that locality. .The party inspected a number of-sit'es on which coal was found in the nourishing days of the Kawakawa industry, much of it being in the form of surface seams. Local people were advised by the experts to sink test bores in certain areas, including several where mining had not been carried out before. Proper equipment is to be sought from the mining controller to whom the experts are to report.
