CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS
N.Z, AND PACIFIC WAR
To the Editor
One gets very tired, of the per-, petual efforts of people who claim that New Zealand troops have been the spearhead in every notable battle fought in various parts of the world and "Grim Dig" in last night's Star joins this band. Everyone with a correct knowledge of the campaign in North Africa knows full welbthat it was the Australians who broke through first on the coast road afc-El Alamein and the New Zealanders came up two days later. Why fins feverish anxiety by this country for publicity? Would not it be far better if, instead of squealing against heft* ing in the Pacific war, apart from the R.N.ZA.F., we helped the JsH, tralians in their ghastly task? Or have we so soon forgotten Milne Bay, they kept the Japanese away from these shores? Let us t^v ; and substantiate our claim of being a spearhead, instead of adopting a selfish and indifferent attitude.as we are now doing and also fulfil wV Praser's promise of giving every help to Australia. What have we done here to help? ADVANCE N*Z.
