MARSHAL TITO BALL
FUNCTION AT TOWN HALL Over 2000 dancers and spectators attended the Marshal Tito Ball which was held in the Town Hall last night, to raise funds to assist the army and people of Yugoslavia. A feature of the evening was the presentation of the Yugoslav national dance, the Kolo, and at the conclusion of the dance those taking part formed a tableau spelling out the word "Tito." Special music was proj vided by the Yugoslav Tamburica Orchestra and the frocks for the dance were made by Mrs. 3. Sokolich.
The function was organised by the president and executive of the All Slav Union (Auckland). The guests were received by the president of the union, Mr. I. Tomasevic, and Mrs. Tomasevic, and included the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. C. Allum and Dr. and Mrs. Crkvenac. The Mayoress was presented with a bouquet by the secretary, Miss S. Sokolich. The chaperons were Mrs. M. Ciprian, Mrs. B. Sokolich, Mrs. F. M. Pavlinovich, Mrs. G. P. Popovich, Mrs. P. N. Sunde, Mrs. D. Sunde, Mrs. S. Dean and Mrs. M. Kostanich. Dr. Rogers, recently returned from Yugoslavia, spoke to the large gathering about the Yugoslav people. The last time he saw the Kolo danced, he said, it was peformed by the people to keep themselves warm.
