LATE HON. E. W. ALISON
FERRY COMPANY FOUNDER appreciation of great work Feeling comment on the recent death of one of the founders of trans-harbour traffic, the Hon. _E. W. Alison, was made by the chairman, Sir Ernest Davis, at the annual meeting to-day of the Devonport Steam Ferry Co., Ltd. "
"The late Mr. Alison's service to this company in the early days, and right through to the time of his retirement, was monumental in its history, and we desire to record our appreciation of his pioneer work, which, at one time, was so largely instrumental in the development of Devonport in particular, and the North Shore generally," said Sir Ernest. "I therefore desire to move that this meeting of shareholders of the Devonport Steam Ferry Co., Ltd. convey to his relatives our sincere sympathy in their bereavement, and our appreciation of his great work for this company in the past." The appropriate resolution was &en carried, those present standing in silence.
