PRISON FOR THEFT
HAMILTON, Thursday. A plea of. guilty was entered by Ernest Howard Gilbert (32), labourer, Karapiro, when he was charged with the theft of clothing valued at £4 7/6 before Mr. S; L. Paterson, S.M., to-day. Senior-Sergeant H. F.Coddington said that the clothing was taken from a dressing room at Frankton, where the accused worked for a short period. He was lazy fond of liquor, and consorted with bad company. Gilbert said he left the firm because he could not find accommodation and had to sleep m a haystack. He took the clothing to cover magistrate convicted Gilbert and sentenced him to three months imprisonment with hard labour.
