RESTRICTIONS AGAIN
AUCKLAND GAS SUPPLY
Restrictions on Auckland's gas supply were again in force to-day. It became necessary yesterday afternoon to cut off the mains at 3.30, and it was not until 5.30 that a mealtime service could be given. Many housewives were taken by surprise and experienced much difficulty.in preparing the evening meal. To-day the gas supply was limited to meal periods.
The general manager of the company, Mr. R. Worley, said to-day that they were doing their best under very difficult circumstances. It was hoped to give good restricted mealtime services to-morrow and Sunday. He added that a small quantity of coal was unloaded from the steamer Omana to-day, and that the Kiwitea was expected to arrive at Auckland to-morrow with 1600 tons, an amount equal to requirements for a week.
