Addressing a Press conference at Olympia, in the State- of Washington, President Truman s,aid General Eisenhower's first job was to return to Germany and finish his work there. How long he would be there was at present unknown, but this was one of the things awaiting settlement at the Big Three conference.
"General Eisenhower is entitled to anything he wants and I want to see that he gets it," said President Truman. "He is a grand gentleman."
The Sixth and Twelfth Army Groups and Supreme Headquarters itself will be dissolved a few weeks after General Eisenhower's return from America, says Reuters Paris correspondent. This was announced at Supreme Headquarters to-day. A permanent occupation organisation will be established in their place. General Eisenhower will drop the title of Supreme Commander, but will remain Commander of the American forces, military governor of the American zone and chief of the Ajnerican section of international control in Germany.
