HOUSING CONSTRUCTION
"Old Auckland Builder" does not go far enough. Apart from men in the Army with building experience, how many firms, supposedly essential, are holding building construction workers? The firm for which I work is building a new office, which I would be quite proud to own or rent for a modern bungalow, whilst homeless people plead in vain for somewhere to live. The present office would be quite all right till tne war ends. But, no, that would never do. A large number of the staff are killing time whilst this particular firm prepares to go into the production of an article which, according to the manager, is more essential than the Army. His appeal suecgpded ANOTHER BUILDING WORKER.
