Public notice is hereby given as required by Section 54 of the Rating Act, 1925, that the Auckland City Council in pursuance of Its powers under Sections 77, 82 and 92 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, Section 52 of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and of all - ■other powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf, Intends on the 29th day of June. 1945, to make' and levy the following razes In respect ol the City of Auckland for the year commencing on the Ist day of June, 1945, and. ending on the 31st day of May, 1946. (1) A General Rate of Two Shillings and Flvepence (2/5) in the £. (2) A Library Rate of One Penny Half-penny (l'/ 2 d) in the £. (3) A Hospital and Charitable Aid Rate of Ninepence Half-penny (9&d) in the £. Upon the annual rateable value , of all property as appearing in the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the City or Auckland. A Special Rate of One Shilling and Sevenpence (1/7) in the £ will also be collected. In respect of Water Rates In the City of Auckland for the year commencing on the Ist day of June 1945, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1946— (1) In respect of the ordinary supply of water within the meaning of the Waterworks By-laws of the City of Auckland— Upon all lands and dwelling houses to which water J is supplied whoso annual rateable value, as appearing on the Valuation Roll — (a) Does not exceed Twelve Pounds Ten - Shillings, a rate of Ten Shilling (10/). j (b) Exceeds Twelve Pounds Ten Shilllnrs, a rate of four per centum (4 per cent) on such value. Upon all buildings used for any -purpose other than dwelling houses whose annual rateable value, as appearing on the Valuation Roll— (a) Does not exceed Twelve Pounds Ten *■ ■ Shillings, a rate of Five Shillings (5/). (b) Exceeds Twelve Pounds Ten Shillings, a * rate of two per centum (2 per cent) on v such value. Provided that when the whole supply to such building Is registered by meter the consumer shall in addition, be required to pay any excess over - one quarter of the annual rates as may be dis- H closed, by each quarterly meter reading. v (2) In respect of all lands and buildings to which E water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards from any par; of the waterworks, a rate of two per centum (2 per - cent) on the annual rateable value, provided * that in no case shall the minimum amount C of such rate be less than 5/. The said rates shall be payable in each case in one sum upon the Ist day o£ July, 1945, at the Municipal Offices, Town Hall, Auckland, to Horace Wycliffe Sommerville, the Council's Collector, or to such other person as may from time to time be appointed to collect same. The Valuation Roll Is open for inspection at the Town Hall, Auckland, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on all business days of the week from Monday to Friday. And further public notice is hereby given as required by Section 79 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, that the Estimates upon which the General Rate is being struck having been approved by the Council, are open for inspection at the Town Clerk's Office, Town Hall, Auckland, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on all business days of the week from Monday to Friday. :22 .
