IN WINTER HANDICAP

HAWKE'S BAY PROSPECTS

The five-year-old Bulandshar galloper Flying Ace is expected to be hard to beat in the Winter Handicap, principal flat event at the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's winter meeting at Hastings to-morrow.

Telegraphing this morning, the Star's special correspondent stated that Flying Ace was in splendid order and had a better local following than Air Port and Babrow, while Khurja, which had improved rapidly during the past fortnight, was coming into favour for the Hawke's Bay Steeplechase. The weather was overcast, but even heavy rain was unlikely to have much effect on the track.
