INCREASE IN RATES
TAKAPUNA DECISION An increase in the consolidated rate of lid, making a total of 1/5J in the £, on the unimproved value of land was decided upon at a special meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council last night. The hospital rate was increased by .Bd, while the increase in wages was responsible for an additional .sd.
A motion by the Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, to the effect that, as the council had given a pre-election pledge that the rates would not be increased, it should resign forthwith and that the striking of the rates should be deferred until a new council took office, lapsed for want of a seconder.
