COMMUNITY CENTRES
HOME AND SCHOOL MOVEMENT O.C. NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. The part that home and school associations might play in connection with community centres was discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Tarahaki Council of Sport at New Plymouth. The home and school associations would probably form a federation next month, said Mr. J. G. C. Leach. He thought community centres would be one of the first matters the federation would consider. He expected the federation would favour a policy of decentralisation. In his opinion the first move should come from borough councils, which should enlist the assistance of other bodies. Mr. G. Sullivan said he thought that the main part of the Council of Sport would be in regard to physical and sports activities. A sub-committee was appointed to draw up a report for the New Zealand Council of Sport.
