TWO WEAK TEAMS
LEAGUE COMPETITION
CONCERN BY BOARD
The playing standard of the Newton and Point Chevalier senior teams was referred to by the chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, at a meeting of the Board of Control of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. He said that the Newton team had not shown improvement. The Point Chevalier team was now in its second year, and it did not seem to have made a serious step forward. Mr. W. Mincham said that the Point Chevalier team was endeavouring to improve its position. It had put up some good performances against other teams and had not been annihilated. It was decided to ask both clubs to send representatives to the next meeting of the board. Rep. Matches It was stated that the following dates have been approved for, Representative matches in Auckland:— South Auckland, June 9; Wellington, July 21; West Coast, August 4. The return match against Wellington will be played at Wellington on September 8. The West Coast Rugby League wrote stating that it had been decided to play South Auckland at Huntly on .August 5 and possibly matches would be played in Wellington and Canterbury on the return trip. A goodiiseason was being experienced on the Coast, and there were bright prospects of a very strong representative team. Club Fixtures Fixtures for next Saturday are:— Manuk'au v. Porisonby, Carlaw Park, No. 1, 1.40, Mr. J. O'Shaughnessy; Richmond v. Otahuhu, Carlaw Park No, 1, 3.0, Mr. G. Kelly; City v. Point Chevalier, Carlaw Park No. 2, 1.40, Mr. H. Hobman; Marist v, Newton, Carlaw Park No. 2, 3.0, Mr. J.. Hawkes; Mount Albert v. North Shore, 3.0, at Devonport, Mr. S--Billman. It was decided to play a match at Ellerslie on June 16 between the North Shore and Otahuhu teams. The regrading of J. A. McDonnell, of Ponsonby seniors, to Senior B, was approved.
