SAFE IN ENGLAND
MOKE RELEASED PRISONERS
Advice that Privates Harvey Garland and Ken Blakej r , who have been prisoners of war in Stalag 18A, Germany, since their capture in Greece in April, 1940. have arrived safely in England has been received by Mrs T. T. Garland, Bucklarid Road, Epsom, mother of Private Garland. Prior to enlisting for the Second Echelon in 1939, Private Blakey, a graduate of the Auckland University College, was assistant to the commercial editor of the Auckland Star. Advice has been received by relatives in Auckland that Captain M G. O'Neill, who was captured while serving with the 24th Auckland Battalion, has arrived in England. After serving in the Waikato Regiment as a senior subaltern for many years, he eiVisted for overseas service early in tin war and left as a lieutenant in tl*? 24th Battalion. Prior to the war Captain O'Neill practised as an accountant in the city.
