VALUATION OF FARM

APPEAL WITHDRAWN

The value of a farm of 573 acres 14 miles north-east of Wellsford was the subject of a hearing before Mr. Justice Finlay, Mr. W. E. Scott and Mr. W. Stewart in the Land Sales Appeal Court to-day, in an appeal against a decision of the North Auckland Land Sales Committee in fixing the value of the land at £3620. It had been agreed by A. B. Craig to purchase the property from A. A. Civil, for £5160 and the, vendor appealed against the committee's valuation. , „ „ T1 For appellant, Mr. Marshall' White led evidence to show that the property had been purchased in 1937 for £3200 and had been extensively improved to a point where its productivity could be largely increased without need to add to the plant already there to make it an economic sheep farm. During - the' .course of the evidence his Honor suggested - that the committee's valuation was generous. For the Crown, evidence was led by Mr. Barnett indicating the farm to be uneconomic on its present stage' of development. One / witness said it could be developed as a dairy and "sheep farm. , , Eventually Mr.. White agreed to withdraw the appeal, intimating that ;Mr. Ciyil was not prepared to sell at the price fixed by the committee.
