Rising Prices And Low Wages Cause Trouble GOVERNMENT'S DILEMMA Rec. 11 a.m. LONDON, May 20. Some prices have shot up more than 100 pei cent The pound sterling is now worth 30/. Some commodities have disappeared from the markets. The issue before the Greek Government is whether to continue their strong deflationary policy or allow wage increases. The Government has ordered the return of M. Kyriakos Varvaresso, sovernor of the Greek Bank, who is now in London.
