TABERNACLE JUBILEE
Nearly fifty people who had attended the opening services of the Auckland Tabernacle 60 years ago assembled in the Mount Eden Baptist Church yesterday, when the anniversary of the event was enthusiastically celebrated. The church was filled. Many of those present had been baptised by Pastor Tom Spurgeon, whose organist was nrP c P nL A spray of flowers wab presented to each elderly woman as she entered the church. The main addresses were given by the Rev. H. Knowles-Kempton, pas-tor-emeritus of the Tabernacle, and by Dr. J. J. North. A message of affection was cabled from the meeting to Mrs. Tom Spurgeon, who now lives in Devon. The meeting concluded with the Hallelujah Chorus, i sung by a large choir under the baton of Mr. C. Turley. I
