OBITUARY
MRS. KATE McLEOD The death has occurred of Mrs. Kate McLeod, widow of Mr. John McLeod, who was formerly Auckland district secretary of the Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows. Mrs. McLeod, who was actively associated with her husband's work, was a life member of the order, and also of the Auckland Gaelic Society, of which she was vice-president at the time of her death. Born in Dunquin, Eire, in IS6I, Mrs. McLeod arrived in Auckland with her parents in 1874 on the vessel Hydaspes. Mrs. McLeod was married in 18S3, and after some years in the city moved to Blockhouse Bay, where she and her husband were among the earliest residents. They returned later to live in Auckland. Mrs. McLeod is survived by three sons and five daughters. Mr. McLeod died in 1942. MRS. M. J. HUNTER The death occurred in Auckland recently of Mrs. Mary Jane (Jennie) Hunter, widow of the late George David Hunter. Born in India, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carley, she came to New Zealand approximately 70 years ago, first residence being in the Wanganui district. Later the.
