CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
Mother's Club.—The Mother's Club of the Y.W.C.A. has had an interesting month. On her return from the YW.C.A. convention, which was held at New Plymouth, the president, Mrs. C. Dickens, gave a comprehensive report of the remits and work in connection with the convention. Miss G. Bertram gave a vivid description of the Philippine Islands as she saw them ten years ago. A spiritual address was given by Mr: W. Strong. A special Mother's Day service was held, when Mrs. H. Kaspar spoke of the founder of Mother's Day, and Mrs. T. Derrick spoke of the lasting influence of a good mother. Banish Association.—There was a large attendance of members of the Danish Association in New Zealand at a concert and dance held in the Overseas League Rooms on Thursday evening. The president, Mr. 0. N Hadrup, referred to the fact that members were meeting together under happier circumstances than at the last meeting. They now had the knowledge that Denmark was no longer oppressed by Nazi invaders. The gathering observed a few moments' silence in memory of Danes who had fallen during the war.
