RATS
With another war commencing in our midst — war on rats — does the council intend to exterminate the "pet" rodents which are running freelv between the pens that house certain breeds of poultry at our Zoological Gardens? Visiting the Zoo last Sunday, my attention was drawn to the interest displayed by several other visitors watching the gambolling of at least ten rats of varying sizes jumping in and out of the food dishes used in feeding the exhibits. The rubbish tip at the rear of the Zoo is a breeding ground for hordes of these pests, and a clean-up in that area would go a long way to prevent the migration of rats into the city precincts. L.R.H.
