ADJOURNMENT GRANTED

THE CASE OP KEVIN DEERE WANGANUI, Friday. A sine die adjournment was granted by the No. 6 (Wanganui) Armed Forces Appeal Board when the case of Kevin B. Deere again came before it to-day. This decision was reached after the Crown representative, Mr. N. G. Collinge, had intimated that the Railway Department had found another man to replace Deere in the Army. Deere is training as a painter at the East Town workshops. Mr. Collinge said the man to replace Deere in the Army was a single railwayman who had not had previous military service. This meant that Deere would remain in his present position. The appeal on Deere's behalf was lodged by the Director of National Service on the grounds of public interest. After hearing the case on March 26 the board indicated that if Deere would agree to accept a transfer from his present employment to that of a porter in the traffic branch, and thus release a fit single man who had not seen war service, a sine die adjournment would be granted. The case was then adjourned to enable Deere to come to a decision.
