CRITICISM WELCOMED

HOUSING IMPROVEMENT BILL Copies of the Housing Improvement Bill, which will have its second reading in Parliament this year, have been received by members of the New Zealand Municipal Association from the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple. The Minister recalls the promise he made last year that before the bill was brought up for its second reading it would be distributed to all local bodies for their information. "I gave this understanding because I realise the vital importance of the subject matter of the bill to the people of the Dominion, and because its success depends in a large measure on the co-operation of the responsible local authorities in the way they administer it," said Mr. Semple. "I shall welcome any constructive suggestions or criticisms regarding the bill and look forward to your association's co-operation and support in putting into operation this measure, designed to improve the housing conditions of the people."
