DEATH FROM WOUNDS
MAJOR R. K. G. MACINDOE WELL-KNOWN AUCKLAKDER Advice of the death from wounds in Italy of their elder son, Major Raymond Kenneth Grierson Macindoe, was received by Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Macindoe, of Westbourne Road, Remuera, at the week-end. Aged 32 years, Major Macindoe was educated at King's School and King's College, where he was a school prefect, a member of the Rugby first fifteen and the winner of several boxing titles. After leaving school he played football for the Auckland University Club. His favourite summer recreation was yachting, and he was a
popular member of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. He was also a member of the Auckland Golf Club. The late Major Macindoe, who was a director of C. G. Macindoe Proprietary. "Limited, and Browne Bros, and Geddes, Limited, won his commission in the Ist Field Regiment in 1940. and left New Zealand with an artillery unit of the Third Division in 1942. He served throughout the Solomons campaign, being in command of a field artillery battery for the greater part of the period. He returned to New Zealand towards the end of last year and left for the Middle East with a replacement draft early this year." Major Macindoe, whose home was at 54, Bell Road, Remuera, is survived by his wife and two children. Maior Harley Lieman Grierson Macindoe left for overseas with his brother Kenneth in 1942, both being battery commanders. Major H. L. G. Macindoe has since returned to New Zealand.
