SEPARATE GIRLS' SCHOOL
O.C. GISBORNE, this day. The Gisborne High School Board has decided to press for the establishment of a separate girls' school following a suggestion by the rector, Mr. J. Leggat, that the time was ripe for subdivision. He pointed out that apart from city technical schools only the Auckland Grammar School, 932 pupils, and Wellington College, 886, had larger rolls than the Gisborne school, which was attended by 831 pupils. Palmerston North and Napier both had separate boys', and girls' institutions with 668 and 754 respectively.
