Bright Play In the Opening Matches: Some New Talent In the Senior Ranks: Otahuhu Is Superior To Mt. Albert

Richmond beat Point Chevalier by 22 points to 6. Manukau accounted for North Shore by 35 points to 9, and Ponsonby defeated Newton by 11 points to 3. Spectators at Carlaw Park were welcomed by the chairman of the board of control, Mr. J. W. Watson. He referred to the death of President Roosevelt, and for two minutes spectators and players stood in silence. The official kick-off was by the president, Mr. E. J. Osborne.
