SERVICEMEN'S VIEWS

CASE FOR COMMISSION WHANGAREI K.S.A.'S MOVE O.C. WHANGAREI, this day. The views of discharged servicemen and serving members of the forces on the drinking conditions in New Zealand, after their experience overseas, is to be given in evidence before the Royal Commission set up to investigate the licensing laws of the Dominion, by the president of the Whangarei Returned Services' Association, Mr. L. R. Rogers, according to a decision reached by the executive committee. It was stated that nearly all overseas bars and lounges where liquor was obtainable were equipped with comfortable seating and other facilities, and in most cases they remained open till 10 p.m. Keen interest has been aroused among the forces overseas in the commission's activities, and the Whangarei R.S.A. is to endeavour to represent them. The branch now has a financial membership of 950.
