BEATING THE U-BOAT

ALLIED SUCCESS IN MARCH Rec. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, April 9. The enemy's U-boat effort in March continued to increase but fewer ' successes were obtained against our shipping than in February. Casualties inflicted against U-boats in March were again severe, says a joint statement regarding the U-boat warfare issued under the author'ty of Mr. Churchill and President Roosevelt. The statement adds that the Allies' prdlonged and extensive bombing and minelaying policy has undoubtedly delayed the introduction of a new type of U-boat. The Red Army's capture of Danzig Bay has similarly helped to cut off the evil at its source.
