O.C. SYDNEY, March 21. The C 18. now hopes to solve the mysterious disappearance, five years, ago, of Miss Lucy Brown Craig. Miss Craig, 20, was the daughter of Dr, Francis Brown Craig, of Macquarie Street, City. On ApriJ 12, 1940, she left the B M A. Building in Macquane Street, where she was employed, and was later seen stepping off a tram at King's Cross. She was in the company of an athletic-looking man wearing a grey suit. She was. never seen again. On five occasions her father offered a reward of. £200 for .information of her whereabouts. A month after Miss Brown Craig had disappeared, Ruby Gladys Evelyn 27, was sent to gaol for nine months for having demanded money from Dr. Brown Craig, with intent to defraud, by pretending that she knew the whereabouts of his daughter. Posters describing Miss Brown Craig were displayed in New Zealand, New Guinea, and at every police station, railway station, and shipping office in Australia. Several members of the .underworld, acting on their own initiative, took part in the search for Miss Brown Craig. Thev told the police their only interest in seeking the girl was to return her to her father.
