DISTINGUISHED WOMEN
ELECTION TO FELLOWSHIP Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, March 23. The first women to have gained the distinction of election to the fellowship of the Royal Society since the foundation of the society in 1612, with the exception of Queen Victoria, are Mrs. Katherine Lonsdale, physicist attached to the Royal Institution, for outstanding contributions to the investigation of the crystalline structure of organic compounds by means of an x-ray analysis, and Miss Marjory Stephenson, of the scientific staff, Medical Research Council, who was a pioneer in her own branch of biochemical research.
