IMPORT AMENDMENTS

With reference to the admission of indelible coloured penclLs from Canada under licenses issued for imports of pens and pencils from tne United Kingdom. It is understood that some merchants are under the impression that the ordinary indelible copying pencil, *.f a. purple colour, is admissible from Canada under sucn. licenses. Importers are advised that the ordinary Indelible pencil will not be permitted to be imported from Canada under such licenses. The concession is Intended to be applied to the indelible coloured pencils which are largeir used by auditors. . . , _ Licenses to Import electric torch cases from the United Kingdom and other British countries will be granted for amounts equivalent to. the amounts of licenses granted for imports of similar goods from all sources in 1941. The importation of cycle lamp cases will be permitted under these licenses. Applications for licenses to Import flat band strapping will be considered from regular importers thereof. The notice stating that consideration will be given to applications for license® to import towels and towelling for personal use from the United Kingdom is cancelled and Jhe item is now to be regarded as a "D" item in the 1945 licensing schedule. With reference to the. noi.lce relating to the confirmation of orders for towels purchased under 1944 licenses, tho Commissioner of Supply advises that no further confirmations of such orders will be made.-. The above-men-tio.ied notice is accordingly cancelled.
