LAGENIA PLEASED

WAIKATO RACE TRIALS

JOLLYFOX ALSO IMPRESSIVE

(Special.) HAMILTON, this day. The going on the course proper, 60ft out from the rails, was in splendid, order for galloping at Te Rapa this morning, when the final trials of horses engaged at the Waikato Racing Club's summer meeting on Saturday were sent along and much useful work was accomplished. Honours of the morning over a round went to Lagenia, while over shorter distances Jollyfox, Full Chase and Sir Rajah did best. The Cup candidate Foxwyn was associated with Goldman over a round, and the former was doing it nicely in front of his companion at the completion of the effort in 2.9J, the first half-mile being traversed in 575. Foxwyn looks in splendid fettle for Saturday, and is to have the services of the Taranaki horseman, L. J. Clutterbuck. For one of his class Goldman made a commendable showing. Watchett was not extended over the early stages of a round in 2.11, coming home over the final three furlongs of his work in 40s. Kanga negotiated six furlongs in 1.23 4-5, Balina and Jovial Princess taking 1.23 1-5. The best seven furlongs of the morning was credited to Jollyfox, which was shading Swift Quarry and Sally Lunn at the completion of the essay in 1.36 1-5. Jollyfox ran an encourag i.g race in the Rotorua Cup last week to finish right up fourth, and, as he should be benefited by that outing, he is not without prospects in the big handicap .here this week. That good track worker, Riverlands Roe, was again seen to advantage when he accounted for Bueno, Verus and Varuna over six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. Full Chase was being kept up to his work over the deciding stages of six furlongs in 1.20 1-5, which was the best time recorded over this distance. Royal Jay and Gay Adalene were paired in 1.22 3-5. Acreman ran a round easily in 2.22. Te Awe Awe and Marinoto got to the end of six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. Both horses executed their work well and look in good order for engagements at the meeting. Tower Lady was shading Recipient and Lady Nette at the end of six furlongs in 1.22. Tower Lady went well, as also did Lady Nette. which was sticking on solidly at the end. Lo Zin and Hunting Loch were practically on terms in 1.22 2-5. Expanse In Good Order Sunny Baffles was doing better than Merry Max and Saletheo over half a mile in 57 2-ss, while Icefloe and Aguilo were associated over six furlongs in 1.22 1-5, a useful effort. Stand To was clear of a companion over the deciding l stages of seven furlongs in 1.38. He is bearing a healthy appearance and did not have the best of luck in his engagement at Matamata. Jeep came home from the three furlongs in 41 4-ss, and Expanse was worked steadily over a round and pulled up well. He looks in great nick for engagements ahead. The two-year-old Airies clocked 42s for three furlongs. Lagenia was travelling comfortably in front of Jovial Hour over the concluding stages of a round in 2.6 i. This was by far the best of the morning over the distance. Colonel Vaals was not after time, taking 42 4-5s for the final three furlongs of his work. Phaleroii Sign and Captain Courageous came home from the six furlong peg in 1.2,21 and did it well, while another useful effort over six was that of Saladam in 1.215. The best halfmile was that of Sir Rajah, which accounted for Air Peer in 53 l-ss.

Kouraeka and Ballyneety gave a rather careful display over two hurdles down the back.
