PROTEST BY MOTORISTS
Referring to the recent Western. Maori by-election campaign in which each of the eight candidates was stated to have been allowed 250 gallons of petrol, Mr. F. G. Farrell, president of the Automobile Association (Auckland) commented at a meeting of the council (ast night that it would pay handsomely to stand at a by-election and lose one s deposit if such-a petrol allowance was made. .
