Budapest Battle
BREAK-OUT EFFORT FOILED Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 14. During the liquidation, of the encircled enemy , in Budapest, according to supplementary, data, troops of the Second and Third Ukrainian Commands yesterday took 12,700 prisoners, most of whom were wounded prisoners. They included the commander of the Hungarian First Army Corps, the commander of the Hungarian 12th Infantry Division, also the commandant of Budapest and the artillery commander of the German Ninth S.S. Army Corps. Among the dead were the commanders of the German 9th and 22nd S.S. Cavalry Divisions. Small remnants of the enemy succeeded in breaking out north-west of Budapest, but they have again been surrounded and are being wiped out.
