FRANCE AGREES
GERMAN OCCUPATION
Preparing To Make Dakar Great Naval Base
Rec. 11.30 p.m. PARIS, Feb. 13. France has agreed to participate in the occupation of Germany as a member of the Berlin Control Commission, stated the Minister of Information, M. Tietgen. France, he said, has already received a formal invitation to attend the San Francisco Conference on April 25. M. Tietgen emphasised that the French Government has fully agreed to a number of the decisions of the Crimea Conference but said the organisation of peace required further study. Commenting on the announcement that France is preparing to make Dakar, capital of French West Africa, a great naval base, the Minister said France regarded this as necessary, not only for France, but also for the security of the Allies. It would be natural in the event of another war that the Allies should use Dakar as France would use Allied bases.
