CHEMIST CHARGED
P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Wed. A chemist, George William Bettle, aged 55, was charged in the Magistrate's Court to-day on four separate counts that, with intent to procure a miscarriage, he unlawfully used an instrument or other means. Mr. G. G Chisholm, S.M., was on the Bench, Senior-Sergeant Nuttall prosecuted and Mr. A. H. Cavell represented Bettle. . Twenty-six witnesses have been sub-poenaed by the police from Wellington, Canterbury, South Canterbury and the West Coast, and the hearing is expected to last two days.
