Lead Cricket Averages For 1944-45 Rep. Season
Two Canterbury players head the
; cricket averages for the representa- ; tive season to date. In the batting " I. B. Cromb, with an average of 124 runs for four innings, stands far ahead of any batsman in any other province. None of his team mates reached an average of 50, nor did any batsman in the Otago team, while, strangely enough, N. Hoar, ; chosen for his bowling, was the only : Wellington batsman to break 50;
Hoar's average for five innings was
59.6. >» <phree Aucklanders, Cleal (63.0), W. M. Wallace (61.0) and Sutcliffe (52.5), averaged over the half-century, while Kerr just missed this average with 49.5. The two most prolific wickettakers were Burtt (Canterbury), 17 for an average of 18.9, and Burke (Auckland), with 15 for 19.1 apiece, but the best bowling average goes to Mcßae (Canterbury), whose 12 wickets were taken at. a cost of 14.1
