Christchurch Plans New Bowling Greens
AT. least five new bowling greens will be added to the Christchurch total during next season, and some of them should be ready for play in the New Zealand championships at Christchurch next year.
Chief of the new greens will be R.S.A., situated in Hagley Park. The green will be ready for play next season, but the pavilion will probably not be completed by January.
The Fendalton Club, newly-formed, will be operating in Fendalton Park, and it is reported that the club contemplates opening with two "full greens. At Linwood there is a proposal to shift the croquet section elsewhere, and if this move comes to anything the club will have two full bowling greens as well as the existing threerink green. Plans have been made to extend the Elmwood green by constructing a new green behind the present pavilion. A new green is promised for the Beckenham Club. Beckenham's new green will be some distance away froni the present site, but the old green will be retained, probably for the women's section.
