A dense crowd was packed around the entrance to the ferry wharves, and there was much pushing to get through the barrier, After a time a heavily-built Maori, who had his wahine and a number of children with him, called out in a cheerful voice: "Hey. What for all te hurry? You got nearly all 1945 not touched yet."
