COUNTRY STORE BURNT
O.C. GISBORNE, Tuesday. Fire destroyed the house and business premises leased by Mr.-"H. J. Chiplin at Manutuke last evening. The front part of the building was used as a general store and the back portion was occupied by the lessee and family. When Mr. Chiplin arrived home from the beach with his family the flames had a good hold. There are no fire-fighting facilities in the district. The building was well stocked with supplies and nothing of value was saved.
