FOR WOMEN TRAINING LEADERS
NEW Y.W.C.A. COURSE
YEAR'S STUDY IN DUNEDIN A year's training course for Y.W.C.A. secretaries and youth leaders is to be held in Dunedin from February 21. The curriculum, which will be full-time, will embrace university lectures, tutoring by Y.W.C.A. officers and practical work. Applicants for training must have reached a satisfactory educational standard; they must have had some experience in the student world or the business or industrial".' world, some experience of working as a member of a group (e.g., a church or sports club, drama or tramping society or the girl guides). They must have an interest in people and a satisfactory medical certificate. The age range is 20 to 35 years.
Each student will be required to meet her own expenses for board, lodging and tuition fees, although a few bursaries will be available for students who , are willing to enter into an agreement to work in the employment of the Y.W.C.A., of New Zealand, for a period of two years after training.
Courses will include social science, fundamentals of Christianity, theory and practice of social group work, physical education, recreational leadership and a study of Y.W.C.A. aims and activities. ,Practical work will embrace club work, programme planning, cultural and sports interests, camping experience and attendance at the social work clinic, under the auspices of the Medical School, Otago University.
