CHRISTMAS TOURNEY

THIRD ROUND PLAY

Fine weather to-day enabled good progress to be made in connection with the annual handicap grass court tournament of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association at the Stanley Street courts to-day. The courts were in excellent condition. A surprise result was the defeat of B. J. Baxter by T. M. Butts, to whom he was conceding a point. In the semi-final Butts met M. Wakefield, the Waikato player, giving 3.-6.' Wakefield's consistsent and accurate play secured the victory in two sets. The tournament concludes to-morrow.
