TYPHUS IMMINENT
Serious Outbreak Feared In Athens i- ' UNDER-NOURISHED PEOPLE Rec. 2.30 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 22. The imminence of a serious typhus outbreak in Athens led to a conference of British, American and E.L.A.S. doctors, reports the British United Press Athens correspondent. Owing to a sharp drop in temperature in the past few days and inadequate food, water and fuel supplies, a typhus scourge is feared. E.L.A.S. doctors promised they would try to persuade the E.L.A.S. generals to, allow both sides to use the only regular hospital for contagious diseases in Athens, which at present was *in E.L.A.S. hands. Prisoners are being evacuated from the Athens area by sea. Three thousand have been sent out by this method, and an additional thousand are awaiting shipment.
