ADVANCE ON LEYTE
I Rec. 2 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 22. I General Mac Arthur has announced that the Seventy-seventh Infantry Division has advanced three miles along the road to Palompon, which is under American artillery fire. A total of 1546 enemy dead were counted on Leyte on Thursday. Mopping-up operations continue. There has been no ground oppo sition on Mindoro Island.
